The process of separating is the hard part, getting legally divorced is the easy part.

State requirements for filing for divorce may vary from state to state, however, in North Carolina the only requirement to obtain a divorce is that you have been separated at least one year and one day (366 consecutive days) with the intent to remain separate and apart.
