Elizabeth A. Stephenson has been passionately advocating for families and children since 2000. As a managing partner at New Direction Family Law, she believes in treating clients as individuals, not just legal cases. Elizabeth understands that family law issues are complex and emotionally charged, often involving bitter emotions and resentment. As a trained parenting coordinator, Elizabeth assists families in high-conflict custody cases, helping them develop healthy co-parenting relationships. As a mother of a teenager, she understands the deep bond between parents and children and is committed to protecting those relationships during difficult times.
Education and Credentials
Elizabeth attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she graduated with honors in 2000. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she was the Program Director for Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina and the Executive Director of The Covenant with North Carolina’s Children. With a master’s degree in social work, she has extensive experience in improving the dynamics between children and families in need. This background informs her approach to family law and helps to ensure the best outcomes for her clients and their families.
Elizabeth is certified in collaborative law and a trained parenting coordinator. Since 2020, Elizabeth has been recognized by North Carolina Super Lawyers as a Super Lawyer in Family Law and has a perfect rating of 10 on Avvo. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.
